The Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Radiodiagnosis at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), MAHE, is a three-year postgraduate program regulated by the National Medical Commission. Established in 1962, the department is among the earliest in India and is now one of the most advanced imaging centres in South Asia.

You train in a high-volume tertiary care environment with cutting-edge imaging technology, integrated diagnostic and interventional training, research exposure, and technology driven learning that prepares you for consultant level and leadership roles in radiology.

1.5T MRI scanners (PHILIPS and GE)
128-slice dual CT (PHILIPS) and 16-slice CT (GE)

Digital X-ray and fluoroscopy units

Dedicated vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology suites

Technology-Driven Learning: Use of an updated WebPACS system with an extensive archive of curated cases spanning over a decade.

Global Collaborations: Active collaboration with the UK National Health Service (NHS) on artificial intelligence projects and research partnerships with PHILIPS, which has established a research laboratory on campus.

Clinical Training

Gain hands-on experience across advanced imaging modalities including Xray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, and WebPACS based case review, with exposure to emergency, oncologic, cardiac, neurological, musculoskeletal, paediatric, and transplant imaging within a high-volume tertiary care setting.

Research Projects

Participate in collaborative research projects in artificial intelligence and advanced imaging through partnerships with the UK National Health Service and PHILIPS, including access to on campus imaging research laboratories and technology driven diagnostic innovation.

Specialised Skills

Undertake structured inhouse clinical rotations across diagnostic and interventional radiology units, assisting vascular and nonvascular procedures, multidisciplinary clinical meetings, academic activities, and research work, with pathways to pursue post MD fellowships and subspecialty training in diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Clinical Training

Program Eligibility

You must have successfully completed an MBBS degree from an institution or university recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI).

You must also:

Complete your compulsory internship on or before the date specified by the NMC.
Hold a Permanent Registration Certificate for the MBBS qualification issued by the NMC, the erstwhile MCI, or a State Medical Council.

For candidates with foreign medical qualifications:

You must be a registered medical practitioner in the country where you obtained your medical degree.
You must obtain a temporary registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
If you are an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have obtained your primary medical qualification outside India, you must qualify the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) (Screening Test) as per the Screening Test Regulations, 2002, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Continuation of Scholarship

The award of Fee Waiver for the subsequent years will be the same as given at the time of admission in the first year. Scholarship will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual program fee. Students who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades, will NOT be eligible for fee waiver for that academic year. Fee Waiver will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.

Withdrawal Policy

In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST reimburse the total program fee (as per Prospectus 2025) for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal.
