Admission Procedure 

Step 1

(a) Apply online from website or
(b) Download the application from website or
(b) Get the application form by writing to the Office of International  
     Admissions, Manipal University, 1st Floor, Room No. 101, Manipal 576104,
     Karnataka, India.

Please note the application forms for Resident Indian students(general category) and International students(Foreign/NRI category) are separate.

Step 2

Fill in the application form in any one of the above forms and forward the following documents as attachments to our e-mail ( / or by post:

(a) Certified copy of the mark sheet/grade sheet/transcripts of the qualifying examination
(b) Birth certificate or X standard mark sheet showing date of birth 
(c) Copy of passport of the applicant (personal detail pages only)
(d) Copy of the passport of the parents or sponsorer if sponsored by parents/ 
     NRI relative
(e) Proof of NRI status of the student/ parents/ sponsorer(for NRI student 
(f) Proof of relationship if sponsored by a NRI relative
(g) Passport size photograph of the applicant
(h) *Application fee of US $ 50 or Indian ` 2500 in the form of a bank draft/
       cashier’s check in favour of ‘Manipal University'.  If paid in Indian rupees,
       then the draft should be payable at Manipal or Udupi.

 * The application fee may be paid online or by bank draft/demand draft.

  1. Students who have completed their qualifying examination and have received their final results will have to forward their final mark sheet/transcripts. 
  2. Students who will be writing their final examination in March/April 2014 and results declared in May/June 2014, can enclose their prelims /prefinal / preboard results and thereafter send in their final results to the University as soon as it is available to ascertain their eligibility.
  3. Students who will be writing their IB or GCE 'A' level examination in May/June 2014 will have to enclose their forecast/predicted results certified by the school head.

Step 3

Acknowledgement:  When the application is received by the International Admissions office, the candidate will receive an acknowledgement with an application number. Students will aslo be intimated if additional information is required. Acknowledgement will be sent by e.mail only to the candidate/ parents.

Step 4

Provisional Admission: On satisfying all the eligibility requirements, the provisional admission/offer letter will be e-mailed and hardcopy will be posted to the candidate. For all courses other than MBBS provisional admission/ offer letters will be issued on first come basis if the student meets the eligibility requirements. Students, who have submitted the forecast or predicted or pre-board results, letters of provisional admission/ offer letters (conditional) will be sent. The letter will state as to when the first installment course fee should be paid. Provisional admission/offer letter for MBBS course will be sent based on merit as per the marks/grades obtained in the qualifying examination in the first week of April/June 2014.

Step 5

Confirmed Admission: Confirmed admission letters will be issued when the first installment course fee as mentioned in the provisional admission/ offer letter is received by the University. The confirmed admission letter may be used by foreign students to apply for their 'Student Visa' from the Indian Embassy/Consulate in their respective countries.

Note: Candidates who have confirmed their admissions under foreign/NRI category cannot shift to General Category thereafter under any circumstances.


Step 6

Final Information Package: Four weeks prior to the commencement of classes, information pertaining to 'Things to do on Arrival', Academic Calendar, Details of Hotels, Orientation, etc will be sent.  This letter will also indicate the date of final registration at Manipal University.

Step 7

Final Registration: Candidates whose admissions are confirmed to the various courses at Manipal University are advised to reach Manipal or Mangalore campuses 1-2 days prior to the commencement of classes and report to the Office of the International Admissions, Manipal for their final registration i.e. submission of their original/official mark sheets/ transcripts and other documents as listed in the confirmed admission letter. Thereafter, their will be issued an 'Admission Order'. Only after the admission formalities are completed, will students be permitted to move into the allotted hostels and to attend classes.
Step 8

Registration at Foreigner's Registration Office(FRO):  It is part of the normal mandatory process that all foreign students holding foreign passports / citizenship have to register with the FRO within 14 days of their arrival in India.  A student who is a PIO Card holder is also required to register with the FRO.  Manipal University will provide the necessary assistance in this regard.
