About the Department
 
The department offers B.E. programme in Chemical Engineering. B.E (Chemical Engineering) was started in the year 1969 and the first batch of Chemical Engineers graduated in 1974. Till date, 37 batches of students (about 1500 Chemical Engineers) have graduated.

Department has state-of-the-art laboratories in Momentum, Mass and Heat Transfer operations, Reaction Engineering , Process Dynamics & Control and Computer Laboratory.

Chemical engineers hold very prominent position in many industries. Apart from core chemical industries, chemical engineers are presently contributing significantly to Information Technology (IT), Bio-Technology (BT), Biomedical, Energy and Environmental Engineering fields, and the sunrise field of Nanotechnology (NT). Chemical engineers can also join design organization like EIL and research laboratories like NCL, IICT apart from academic institutions. Additionally, many chemical engineers have found their way into upper management. Oil companies have the high market capitalization. Chemical engineering is not a profession that has to dwell on the achievements of the past for comfort, for its greatest accomplishments are yet to come.
