Innovation Centre 


Overview

The MIT Innovation Centre was established to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of MIT. The aim of the Centre is to nurture the Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurial skills of the students, faculty and people of the region. Facilitate inter-disciplinary Research and Innovation. Provide basic funding in the form of Seed Money. Provide resources for start-ups from students, faculty and the university. The focus of the centre is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. The centre provides incubation facilities to start ups and budding entrepreneurs.

Objectives

  • Encourage students and faculty of the university to take part in innovation, idea generation and product development
  • Provide seed money to transform an idea in to a product
  • Arrange workshops to sensitise the students and faculty to entrepreneurship
  • Patent awareness and patenting. Generate 10 patentable ideas per year
  • Facilitate at least two innovative products from the university useful for society

Infrastructure

  • 16000 sq. ft. space
  • State of the art lab facility for design, emulation, testing for electrical sciences
  • Proposed to setup photovoltaic lab
  • Proposed to setup dental implant manufacturing facility

Achievements 

  • Patents filed - 6
  • External fund sanctioned for Innovation and Incubation (DST)
  • Dr. Manohara Pai.M.M received an award by the Honourable Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Prithviraj Chavan in Delhi on august 28th 2009, for mentoring the Indigenous Dental Implants
