The department is a recognised centre for both undergraduate and post graduate training and is well equipped with teaching and non teaching staff. There are six teaching faculty members including Professor and Head Dr KM Cariappa and four dental surgery assistants. Two housekeeping and one clerical staff are also present to make sure smooth running of the departmental activities.

We have two autoclaves for the sterilisation of the instruments to conduct procedures in a sterile environment.

An emergency tray with oxygen cylinder has been in our department for years now, to handle any kind of untoward emergency or life threatening situations.

We have a separate room for carrying out conscious sedation procedures and recovery of the patients undergoing the same.

There is a seminar room for various teaching programmes that are conducted every day in the morning.
The department has two computers with printer and internet facilities.

Our unit also boasts of TMJ arthroscopy apparatus to manage various disorders of temporomandibular joint disorders.

We have recently acquired a pulse oximeter, glucometer and an automatic defibrillator for monitoring and counteracting any sudden cardiovascular emergency which will be managed by well trained faculty members who have acquired training for BLS and ACLS management conferred by American Heart Association (AHA).

In association with the Kasturba Hospital and its emergency and casualty services, our in-house residents are on call 24X7 to respond to any kind of emergency that afflicts the oral and maxillofacial region.
