Manipal College of Dental Sciences (established 1987) has been an epitome of dental research where departments of various specialties are encouraged to put to test the new hypothesis in diagnosis and treatment modalities and thus bring forth new research projects. We at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore are committed to produce skilled dental health professionals in all genres of oral health care management. The college has been encouraging the postgraduates and the staff alike to undertake various research assignments in the fields of oral health care promotion and prevention, oral cancer, HIV, dental material research etc. The undergraduate students are also trained to undertake short studies on various aspects like oral health counseling, tobacco related diseases and are encouraged to participate actively in national and international levels. The paper and poster presentations have brought accolades to the institution.
The various departments regularly conduct research for the development of dental sciences and the articles are regularly published in indexed journals. To promote interdepartmental research, clinical society meets are conducted every month to bring forth and enlighten the students and staff of the latest studies pursued in the institute. Professionalism being our forte, the institute has constantly encouraged continuing professional development (CPD) programmes. The CPD programmes invites guest lectures, workshops, hands on courses and demonstrations from experts in their respective fields from renowned institutions from India and abroad.
The reputed staff members continuously strive to better the standard of diagnosis, treatment and patient awareness amongst students and patients. The renowned staff of this institution have contributed chapters and published textbooks for undergraduate as well as postgraduate student referrals, all of which have received an overwhelming appreciation.
