Dr Virendra Sidharam Ligade

As Head of the Department, the current role involves planning and implementation of academic programs and curriculum, ensuring effective teaching-learning processes, and monitoring syllabus completion and academic performance. Responsibilities include encouraging outcome-based education and innovative pedagogy among faculty and coordinating the timetable, workload distribution, and academic calendar. Also serves as a member of the Research Council and Quality Council of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

As an academician, mentoring UG and PG students for academic and career growth is a prime role. Responsibilities include supporting placements, internships, and entrepreneurship activities. Participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities is encouraged.

As a researcher, the role is to promote a research culture among faculty and students in the department. Publications, patents, funded projects, and consultancy are encouraged. Responsibilities also include organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, FDPs, and guest lectures and developing collaborations with industry and research organizations.
