Dr. Varun Saxena

Teaches postgraduate students through classroom teaching, laboratory-based instruction, discussions, and research-oriented learning. Handles courses including Biomolecules, Biomolecules Laboratory, Biomaterials, and Tissue Engineering for postgraduate programmes. Designs and conducts lectures and practical sessions, prepares and evaluates assessments, and contributes to theory and practical examinations. Provides research mentorship to Master’s students undertaking their dissertation work in M.Sc. in Stem Cell Technology and Regenerative Biology and M.Sc. by Research in Translational Immunology.

Guides students in formulating research questions, planning experiments, laboratory work, data analysis, interpretation of results, scientific presentation, and dissertation preparation. Supports students in developing independent research skills and understanding the scientific basis of their experimental work. Pursues research in biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, nanomaterials, antimicrobial biomaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials, and biomaterial cell interactions.

Integrates research expertise into teaching and student mentoring and encourages postgraduate students to develop research-oriented approaches to biomedical problems. Actively engages in scientific conferences, workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities to remain updated with advances in the field. Contributes to departmental and institutional academic activities and supports the overall academic and research environment of the institute. Participates in student mentoring, academic planning, assessment-related activities, and other responsibilities associated with postgraduate education and research training.
