Dr. Vaishnavi J

Dr Vaishnavi J is a Counselling Psychologist and academic researcher in the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences at MILHS. She holds a PhD and an MPhil in Psychology and an MSc in Counselling Psychology from CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru. She is also UGC-NET qualified for Assistant Professorship. Her doctoral research focused on youth mental health and involved the development and psychometric validation of the Coping Strategies of Young Adults (CSYA) Scale.

Dr Vaishnavi has published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. She has also been practicing as a counselling psychologist since 2017, providing evidence-informed individual counselling to young adults experiencing anxiety, stress, interpersonal difficulties, and other mental health concerns.

Her academic experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and delivering invited lectures on psychometrics. She has also received specialized training in trauma-informed interventions and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). Her research interests include the well-being of mental health practitioners, student mental health, psychological assessment, and culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions. Through her teaching, research, and practice, she seeks to integrate rigorous psychological research with empathetic and culturally responsive mental health care.
