Head, Department of Languages and Literature
Dr Sumathi Nagesh is Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) and heads the Department of Language and Literature at the Manipal Institute of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India. She has a PhD on “Translation-Adaptation of Ibsen's The Master Builder in Kannada: Comparative Analysis of Intersectionality of Identities” from the Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Hyderabad. She is also the Coordinator for the Centre for Gender Education and Research at the University.
Her work engages with the questions of affective labour in performance, cross-cultural adaptation in performance studies, and gender and performativity. She has published book reviews and scholarly journal articles on Gender and Performance studies, Cultural Labour, and Ibsen Studies.
