Department of Biotherapeutics Research (DBR), Manipal

Established in 2021 under the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), the Department of Biotherapeutics Research is a pioneering centre for advanced education, translational research, and innovation in biotherapeutics. It is the first centre in India and Asia to offer an M.Sc. (Research) in Biotherapeutics, combining academic learning and research mentorship with a year-long industry internship. Research spans emerging areas including stem cells, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, nanoformulations, and immunotherapy, with a strong focus on translating scientific discoveries into innovative, safe, and affordable healthcare solutions. Guided by an “India First, Global Next” vision, the Department bridges academia and industry to nurture future-ready researchers and advance next-generation biotherapeutics.
