Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, an Institution of Eminence deemed to be University, invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of Project Technical Support – III (JRF equivalent) for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Govt. of India funded research project in the School of Computer Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. The position forms the computational arm of an interdisciplinary research project undertaken in collaboration with the Centre for Molecular Neurosciences and the Department of Psychiatry, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal. The project is titled "AI-Driven Wearable Biomarker Validation of Monoaminergic Sleep Disruption in Major Depressive Disorder: A Cross-Species Translational Framework." The selected candidate will also have the opportunity for PhD registration at MAHE upon fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility criteria.
Responsibilities
- Build a cross-species metric harmonisation pipeline across insect and human data.
- Carry out behavioural feature extraction and explainable machine learning, including SHAP-based feature attribution.
- Benchmark against publicly available depression-labelled actigraphy datasets.
- Work as a highly motivated, self-starting team player in a highly collaborative, inter-disciplinary environment spanning researchers, engineers, and clinicians, along with other duties as assigned.
Eligibility
M.Sc / M.Tech / B.E in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Data Science, Electronics, or Biomedical Engineering. Candidates with a UGC-CSIR / NET / GATE qualification will be preferred. Desirable skills include Python (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn), time-series and signal processing, machine learning with interpretability methods, and Git-based reproducible workflows. No biology background is required, as appropriate training will be provided.
Mode of Engagement
Full-time · Up to 3 years, co-terminus with the project, subject to annual review of performance.
Remuneration: ₹28,000 per month, plus 10% HRA.
