The Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Radiation Oncology at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), MAHE, is a three-year postgraduate program regulated by the National Medical Commission. Established in 1974, the department has offered postgraduate training since 1978 and is equipped with advanced radiotherapy technology.

You train in a high-volume tertiary cancer care setting with comprehensive exposure to radiation therapy, systemic treatment, and multidisciplinary oncology practice, developing the clinical and technical competence required for independent specialist roles in radiation oncology.

Program Highlights

NMC-Regulated Curriculum: You follow a postgraduate training framework prescribed by the National Medical Commission.

Longstanding Academic Legacy: One of the early centres in India to offer structured postgraduate training in radiotherapy and oncology.

Advanced Radiation Technology: Routine clinical use of:

Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT / IMRT)

Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT)

Research Projects

Participate in department led clinical and academic research projects in radiation oncology, radiobiology, and combined modality cancer treatment, with involvement in treatment planning studies, protocol development, multidisciplinary tumour boards, and a mandatory postgraduate dissertation.
