Program Details
Demonstrate strong diagnostic proficiency in clinical virology.
Apply biosafety principles across laboratory and field settings.
Conduct outbreak investigations and surveillance activities.
Perform molecular diagnostics such as RT‑PCR, sequencing, ELISA, and cell culture‑based assays.
Interpret virological data within clinical and epidemiological contexts.
Work with antiviral and vaccine‑related principles.
Follow laboratory accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory frameworks.
Accredited Diagnostic Excellence: You train in an ISO 15189:2022 NABL‑accredited clinical virology laboratory that follows global diagnostic quality standards.
Global Public Health Integration: The institute functions as a Global Virus Network Centre of Excellence and a WHO‑GOARN partner, supporting real public health engagement.
High‑Containment Research Access: You work within BSL‑2 and BSL‑3 laboratory infrastructure supporting advanced viral research and diagnostics.
Strong Mentorship Structure: A favourable faculty‑to‑student ratio enables close academic guidance and research supervision.
Syndromic Diagnostic Training: You learn diagnostic approaches based on symptom clusters to support rapid and accurate infectious disease detection.
International Exposure: Opportunities exist for international internships, exchanges, and collaborative research with eminent virologists worldwide.

Lab Work
Train in tiered BSL‑2 and BSL‑3 laboratories with access to real‑time PCR systems, next‑generation sequencing platforms, Luminex‑based assays, and advanced molecular diagnostic workflows.

Program Eligibility
You must have successfully complete a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or Immunology), MBBS, BVSc, or B.Sc. MLT from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA.
Curriculum and Fees
Your first year builds the theoretical and practical foundations of clinical virology across two semesters, each spanning six months. Learning is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, tailored to the nature and scope of each subject, and integrating academic knowledge with hands-on laboratory training. At the close of the year, you undertake a summer internship, an opportunity to gain practical exposure in clinical, research, diagnostic, or public health settings.
