Develop essential nursing competencies through clinical training and specialty care exposure

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program at Manipal School of Nursing (MSON) is a three-year diploma program with an integrated internship in the third year. The program prepares nurses to address the health needs of individuals, families, communities, and the country at large.

Established in 1959 as an Auxiliary Nurse Midwives Training Centre and upgraded to a General Nursing and Midwifery Training Centre in 1961, MSON was founded under the vision of Dr TMA Pai. The program develops basic nursing skills along with competencies across a wide range of specialty nursing areas and provides a foundation for advanced courses in nursing.
