The B.A. program offers flexible pathways across Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and History through two distinct routes. The B.A. Double Majors (DM) enables students to specialise in any two of these four disciplines, and its multidisciplinary nature helps them understand and act on social realities, become conversant with various kinds of data, and develop the communicative abilities to engage with different kinds of audiences, supporting aspirations for higher studies in interdisciplinary programs such as public policy, development studies, and international relations, alongside careers in the development, cultural, and social sectors, and preparation for competitive examinations. Alternatively, the B.A. Economics with a Minor (in Political Science, Sociology, or History) follows a major–minor structure that builds strong foundations in economics with a greater focus on quantitative methods and approaches, while the minor courses in history, sociology, or political science offer real-world perspectives emerging from these disciplines, enabling students to apply for graduate programmes such as an MSc or Master's in Applied Economics or to take on specialised research roles.

Projects for public engagement such as exhibitions and digital storytelling and for research such as popular publications and journal submissions are undertaken by students with mentoring support by faculty. Fourth year students have the option of teaching-assistantship as well.

QUALIFICATION

Indian Boards

You must have successfully completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, along with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or any Technical Vocational subject with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and English as a compulsory subject.

A Levels

You must have successfully completed A Levels with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or any Technical Vocational subject with a minimum Grade D average at the A Level, English at the AS Level, or have a minimum of five passes in IGCSE, GCSE, or GCE O Level examinations, including English.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

You must have successfully completed the IB Diploma or IB Certificate with English, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or any Technical Vocational subject (preferably Mathematics and Physics at Higher Level). You must also have: • A minimum of 3 points in each subject. • 3 Higher Level (HL) and 3 Standard Level (SL) subjects. • At least 2 science subjects at HL. • An average of at least 4 points in Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject. • An overall minimum of 24 points. • You must appear for MET 2027 and secure the required cutoff. • Technical Vocational subjects must be related to Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical streams. Foreign/ NRI/ NRI sponsored candidates are exempted from the entrance test.

Continuation of Scholarship

The award of Fee Waiver for the subsequent years will be the same as given at the time of admission in the first year. Scholarship will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual program fee. Students who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades, will NOT be eligible for fee waiver for that academic year. Fee Waiver will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.

Withdrawal Policy

In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST reimburse the total program fee (as per Prospectus 2025) for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal.
