Established in 1992, the Department of Surgical Oncology at Kasturba Medical College is an internationally acclaimed center for cancer treatment and research, catering to patients from Karnataka and adjoining parts of Kerala and Goa. The department provides thorough surgical care spanning diagnosis, tumor staging, ontologically sound surgery, and post-operative care. The oncological surgeries range from basic to supra major complex resections and reconstructions across head and neck, breast, gynecological, gastrointestinal, hepato-pancreatico-biliary, thoracic, and limb salvage procedures, along with HIPEC, pelvic exenterations, and minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgeries, supported by full-fledged allied oncology and diagnostic departments.

Minimally Invasive Cancer Surgery

The department performs thoracoscopic and laparoscopic procedures for cancers involving the oesophagus, lungs, mediastinum, stomach, pancreas, colorectum, gynaecological organs and urinary system. Advanced minimally invasive techniques are used where appropriate to support precise surgery and faster recovery.
