The Department of Surgery at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, is well-engaged in teaching activities for both undergraduate medical courses and postgraduate training in surgery. The 30-member strong teaching team conducts theory classes, seminars, practical clinical teaching, and operative surgery training using audio-visual and IT resources. The department has acquired computers, video equipment, digital cameras for recording clinical meetings, and an endotrainer for imparting basic laparoscopic skills. The department is organized into 8 surgical units distributed across both government-aided and private hospital establishments, providing comprehensive training across multiple surgical specialties.
