Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at MCODS Mangalore was formed in 1986 with a vision to provide the best patient care, student mentoring, and research opportunities. Over three decades, the department has grown significantly in infrastructure, research facilities, and faculty development. Oral Medicine and Radiology is taught in the third and final years of the BDS curriculum through lectures, clinical postings, and innovative teaching methods including problem-based learning and small group discussions. The postgraduate program commenced in 2011. The department was the first among dental colleges in India to obtain state-of-the-art Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) with fully configured software. The department was awarded the Guident Award for Best Oral Medicine and Radiology Department in 2016. Faculty members are actively involved in collaborative research and have authored chapters and textbooks.
