In existence for more than 30 years, the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal is a highly specialised unit offering advanced therapeutic endoscopy, a state-of-the-art in-patient facility, and highly skilled gastroenterologists. Its DM course, launched in 2012, is aimed at comprehensive training in clinical problem-solving, logical decision-making, a broad knowledge base, and skills in both basic and advanced endoscopy, supported by high-end research and rich clinical exposure as the region's only tertiary care centre in the specialty.

Consultations & Treatment

The department provides specialist consultation and treatment for jaundice, hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, and dysphagia and achalasia cardia, along with peptic ulcers and dyspepsia. Gastrointestinal and liver cancers, gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disorders and other intestinal diseases are managed here, as are bile duct stones, acute and chronic pancreatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic diarrhoea and constipation. Digestive oncology forms a further area of care.
