Established in 1968, the Department of Biochemistry at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, supports undergraduate medical education and offers MD and M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry programs. The department integrates teaching, diagnostic services, research, and regular CMEs, supported by experienced faculty and advanced laboratory infrastructure.

24×7 Diagnostic Laboratory

The department operates a fully air-conditioned 24×7 diagnostic laboratory equipped with high-end auto analysers and supported by 27 laboratory technicians working across three shifts. It generates around 10,000 reports daily and offers routine chemistry investigations, therapeutic drug monitoring, hormone assays, first-trimester screening, and emergency testing. All emergency investigations are performed within the department, with a turnaround time of up to six hours during working hours and eight hours during non-working hours.
