All foreign students seeking admission at Manipal University should apply for a 'Student Visa' that is valid for more than 180 days from the Indian Consulates/Embassy. Such students will have to register with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) which is located in the Superintendent of Police Office at Udupi (5kms from Manipal) or Mangalore within 14 days of their arrival in India.

Foreign Citizens of Indian Origin can either come with a PIO Card (People of Indian Origin) or OCI(Overseas Citizen of India) to study in India. Such students need not apply for a student visa to study in India. However. a PIO Card Holder will have to register with the FRO as his/her stay in India will be over 180 days.
