Overview

Research and development programmes in the area of Laser Spectroscopy for biomedical applications has been gaining momentum in CAMP (former CLS) ever since the day of its inception. Special emphasis is laid on the advancement of fundamental research for studying the dynamics of various processes and phenomena at atomic and molecular levels with a keen eye on practical applications. The research activities of the centre started with the setting up of a Raman Spectrometer for biomedical applications.

The Central government has funded all research programmes. And these funded research activities at present are in the areas of; (i) Fabrication and submicron tailoring of materials for photonics applications with ultrafast lasers, (ii) Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy for trace element analysis and (iii) Raman Tweezers for manipulating single cells to study their Raman. The centre has very active research collaboration with the many research institutes across India.
