Embedded systems are involved in almost every facet of modern life. Applications of embedded processors are found in many industries like consumer electronics, automobile, communications, aviation, space etc. Even PCs that are designed around powerful CPUs such as Intel, Pentium IV, contain embedded systems.

Embedded software is getting more complex and versatile with the drive to create smaller devices supporting enhanced functionality. This trend will continue, at least for some time, in the future. The course is intended to cater to the requirements of the industry. A balance is maintained throughout the course in the treatment of both software and hardware topics.
