    There are several multi cuisine restaurants in Manipal town. The food is good and available at reasonable prices.
  • Can I cook my own food?
    It’s not allowed in the hostel, but you may do so if you are living outside.
  • Can I engage a cook if I’m not staying at the hotel?
    Yes. It’s not that expensive and the service is good.
  • Who will take care of grocery shopping?
    If you engage a cook, he or she will do it for you.
  • What about eating outside in Manipal town?
    You will enjoy it and you can go for variety.
  • Are there Malaysian snacks available?
    Certain items are available in Manipal.
  • How is the drinking water in restaurants/ outside?
    You may want to have mineral water initially. Later, you can get used to filtered local water served in restaurants and eating places.
  • What is the average price for breakfast, lunch and dinner outside?
    About Rs 100 should suffice for four meals a day.
  • What about staying outside and catering food?
    No problem. When shared, it’s not costly.
  • Should I take any food items with me to Malaysia?
    It will be convenient to bring along your 3-in-1 hot drinks, cereals and special choice items if you want.
  • Is there any food that is not permitted to be brought into India?
    No. There should be no problem if it is well packed.
  • Can food items be sent by parents through post?
    Yes, but they should be well packed. You might need to check with the local Malaysian Post Office.
