Yes. There are telephone booths in front of every hostel.

There are enough telephones around campus.

Many booths are available where you can make international calls. They are operated by individuals on paying for metered calls.

Should I bring along a hand phone?
Not really necessary. There are good international public telephone and GSM Technology facilities available.

What about buying a hand phone in India?
You can buy one if needed. We advice to use the easily available international public phone.

Which is the best method to communicate with home through phone from Manipal?
The public STD and ISD telephones which can be easily connected to Malaysia.

Facilities for receiving calls from Malaysia in the Manipal hostels?
It’s best to have pre-arranged time for calling. Parents may leave a message and you may call back on reverse charge. For emergencies, the college can be contacted.

Problems faced in receiving calls from Malaysia in the Manipal hostels?
Tracing the students to attend the call may take time. It may also happen that the message may not reach the student as he/ she might not be in the hostel and nobody knows about their whereabouts.

Parents can write letters, phone or Email or come and meet lecturers/ mentors personally. Mentors can write to parents about student's performance.
