Achievements of students

• The ‘Merck Serono Award for Best Poster’ at the 44th Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacology Society (IPSCON) was bagged by Dr Nithin Sashidharan, a final year postgraduate, MD Pharmacology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal for his poster entitled “Evaluation of efficacy and toxicity of thalidomide-dexamethasone and Lenalidomide-dexamethasone in the treatment of Multiple Myeloma”. The award includes a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 15000. The Conference was held on 19 December 2011 at Hotel Fortune Inn, Valley View Manipal.
• Dr Nithin Sashidharan (Final year PG, MD Pharmacology, KMC, Manipal) and Dr Amoolya Gowda (2nd year PG, MD Pharmacology,KMC,Manipal) were among the Top 48 students selected for Novartis Biotechnology Leadership Camp (Biocamp) 2011 India edition which was organized at Hyderabad from August 31 – 3, 2011. Dr Nithin Sashidharan was among the top three candidates who represented India at the International BioCamp held at Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland from August 29 to 31, 2011. Dr Nithin also featured along with other contestants in the Novartis Biocamp 2011 video, which was uploaded on Youtube.
  
  
• Ms. Shubhra Jain a student of 2003 batch was invited to attend the International Young European Scientist Conference in Oporto, Portugal in September 2006 where she presented a paper. She was the only student invited for paper presentation
• Ms. Manjula Ballamudi has been awarded the Kadambi Scholarship for excellence in Sports and Academics
• Ms. Fousia Yoonus has distinguished herself with many awards from the government of India and the government of Kerala. She has been conferred the national biology award, national youth award, young talent award, promising young writer by India Today (Malayalam) and has also published four anthologies of poems
• Several other students have participated in national conferences and presented papers. They have also participated in quiz programmes conducted by various colleges in the state and won 1st prize.
• 30 meritorious students have been receiving scholarship from Sir Ratan Tata Trust Mumbai for the last 8 years.
• KMC Athletic Team represented Manipal University in the First Karnataka State Deemed University Athletic Meet which was held on 10th and 11th June 2011 at BLDE University, Bijapur
