Upgradation of Virology Laboratory to Regional Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza Surveillance. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India and at present H1N1 Screening and surveillance

Department has been identified as one of the 10 State reference Laboratories in Karnataka for the Quality Assurance Scheme for HIV testing by National Aids Control Organization (NACO) in November 2005.

Identified to cooordinate with District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU) for conducting training workshops to the Technicians of PHC, 24x7 units. (It is an ongoing programme)

The department is a NACO designated SRL and organises the NACO Dried blood spot (DBS) and whole blood collection training used in infant diagnosis of HIV by DNA-PCR testing
