1. Immunofluorescence
    Immunofluorescence is a very useful tool in diagnosis of connective tissue diseases and autoimmune  blistering disorders.KMC Manipal, is one of the few centres in India where this facility is available.

2. Contact dermatitis & Patch testing 
    Contact dermatitis is frequently encountered in day-to-day practice for which patch testing is done. The department has a standard screening series of 25 allergens obtained from Sweden which are used for patch testing.

3. Phototherapy 
   KMC, Manipal is, perhaps, one of the best institutions in India with facilities for proper and scientific investigation and treatment of photosensitive patients.In this regard, the Department has multiple state of the art phototherapy units

4. Dermatological Procedures
   The common day-to-day surgical procedures carried out in the department include skin biopsies for diagnosis  of skin diseases, electrodessication , cryotherapy in the treatment of common and benign skin tumours like common warts and keloids
5. Cosmetic Surgery
    This is a rapidly advancing field as the need to look good is universal. The various procedures offered are chemical peels for pigmentary disorders of the face like melasma, diffuse melanoderma and acne, botulinum toxin injections for wrinkles, soft tissue augmentation with fillers. Microdermabrasion and collagen microinduction by dermarolling for acne and chicken pox scars.

6. Laser
  We perform laser therapy for diverse cutaneous conditions like hirsuitism, hypertrichosis, nevi removal, acne   scar resurfacing etc. There is a separate Laser Centre for the purpose.

• Patch testing in allergic contact dermatitis
• Photo patch testing- in photo contact dermatitis
• Lasers for active acne, acne scarring, hair reduction, tattoo removal, treatment for vascular and pigmentary lesions, nevi(birth marks) and striae.
