• Basic concepts on pathological basis of diseases
• General mechanisms and characteristics of common diseases which are important for the practice of clinical biochemistry
• Total quality assurance
• Inclusion of various molecular biology and other newer experiments
• Modification of existing practicals to enhance relevance
• Involvement of students in multi team research projects
• Sharing knowledge, skills with other related departments like Life science centre, Laser  Spectroscopy, Pharmacology, Stemptics etc
• Encouraging, motivating & preparing students to participate and present research papers in conferences. We had over 18 conference presentations for the year 2008 from our students.
• Involving students in research publications. In 2008 we had 15  research publications from our students. 
• Enhancing self directed learning through independent study projects
• Personnel skills training for the overall development.
