The department office is situated on the 1st floor of the CSOT block. The department has 12 operating rooms that cater to general surgery, ObGyn, ENT, Pediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Surgical Oncology, Oro-maxillo-facial surgery, Neurosurgery and Cardiac surgery. The postoperative intensive care unit is located in the same complex. Anaesthesia services are also provided at the Trauma Centre (2 ORs), Ophthalmology (2 ORs), Urology (3 ORs), MRI/ CT Room, Family planning OT, MECT, Gastroendoscopy room, Radiology angiocath room, Cardiology angiography room and chairside dental anaesthesia. The department performs conventional general anaesthetics, spinal/ epidural blocks and nerve blocks with nerve locators. All operating rooms have capabilities of routine monitoring under anaesthesia including invasive haemodynamic monitoring and anaesthetic agent monitoring when required.
Pain Clinic Services are provided round the clock throughout the hospital for acute pain. Procedures performed to manage chronic pain include lumbar sympathetic block, stellate ganglion block, paraverbral block, celiac plexus block and epidural steroids.
The department also runs an 8-bedded Multidisciplinary ICU (MICU) equipped with state of the art ventilators, multiparameter patient monitors and renal replacement therapy.
Anaesthesiologists and nurses working in the MICU are actively involved in managing cardiac arrest through “Code Blue”. The Code Blue team from MICU are the primary responders in assessing and managing cardiac arrests (Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiopulmonary-Cerebral Resuscitation).
