The Department of Biochemistry is involved in various research projects in the form of short term student projects, faculty projects, PG dissertation work and PhD programmes. The core areas of research are oxidative stress, antioxidants, free radical damage, lead toxicity, cancer, diabetes, obesity, inflammatory markers, dyslipidemias etc. During 2006-2007 two research projects, one each was funded by ICMR and DST, and one research project was funded by the TMA Pai PhD Research Fellowship.
