The Manipal Life Sciences Centre (MLSC) is identified as TIFAC-CORE (Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council Centres of Relevance & Excellence) under vision 2020 in the area of Pharmacogenomics. MLSC is actively promoting advanced research in India and abroad. The Centre is thriving on the excellent research faculty, facility and resources; aiming to become the nation's number one research and learning Centre. The  Centre conducts international conferences and workshops for promoting new enthusiasm amongst young scientists.

MLSC, previously a part of Kasturba Medical College (KMC) was established in 2002 and obtained independent identity in 2006, is one of the scientific hubs in Manipal and headed by the Director, Dr. K. Satyamoorthy. It has the honour of being one of the top biotechnological institutes of the country. 

The mission statement of the Centre is to engage in cutting edge research, training, education and offer help to the community in the field of human health. The Centre prepares students for productive careers in this versatile, dynamic, evolving discipline. Upon graduation, students will have learned skills in critical thinking, problem solving and communication necessary for success as practicing biotechnologists or in post-graduate studies.
