Located in the hi-tech Innovation Centre building in the heart of Manipal Institute of Technology Campus, the centre has laboratories with ample workstations on the network with Windows and Linux platforms, classrooms with all the required teaching aids, one of the best libraries, campus-wide network, which facilitates the interaction among all the institutions under Manipal University.

Teaching methodology involves normal classroom teaching and online sessions with the computers, live demonstrations, power point presentations, seminars and guest lecturers from eminent scholars in the advanced topics. Students have the privilege of working with powerful software tools from leading industries like XILINX, MENTOR GRAPHICS, Altera Max+PLUSII, Code Composer, ALDEC, SYNOPSYS and MAGMA Suites, Nucleus RTOS, Microcontroller kits like Intel 8051, Motorola 6811, PIC and many more important software packages. Above all, the students are constantly guided and monitored by talented and dedicated faculty members.
 
SysChip (a 100% subsidiary unit of Axiom Design Automation) has setup an engineering division at Manipal Campus to train and provide job opportunities exclusively the students of Manipal. So far they have trained around 20 students from MCIS.

Cerner Corporation, a US based supplier of healthcare information technology solutions, and Manipal University have jointly started the curriculum development for a course in healthcare informatics.
