First year Section Committee : 2010-11
Each section of the first year will have a Section Committee, consisting of HOD of the concerned department, a Section Coordinator and members.
The Section Coordinator will be a senior faculty member who teaches at least one subject for that section. He / She must have the ability to maintain discipline in the class. The Section Coordinators will be nominated by the Associate Director (Academics), who will administer the functioning of all the Section Committees. Members of the Section Committee will be the faculty members handling both theory and practical classes for that section.
Responsibilities of HODs and Section Coordinators
- The concerned HODs will initiate disciplinary action against the students involved in any kind of indiscipline.
- The Section Coordinator and the associated members will meet at least once in a month to identify the irregular / academically weak students. The committee will call the students who are irregular in attending the classes and warn them. If required they will contact the parents in the presence of the student. In case the matter is serious, Section Coordinator will report to the concerned HOD and the HOD will initiate actions against the student.
- The Section Coordinator will send the minutes of every meeting to the Associate Director (Academics).
- Section Coordinators will monitor the academic performance of the students after each sessional test. They will advise the poor performers to improve their performance and will address to their academic grievances, if any.
- The Section Coordinators will nominate the Class Representatives.
- The Section Coordinator will also monitor the regularity of his members in engaging the classes.
Responsibilities of Members
- Members should prepare well to deliver the lectures confidently.
- They should reach the class room in time, preferably 5 minutes before the commencement of the class.
- They should not allow the students to enter the class once the teacher is inside the class room (may be relaxed for opening day only)
- The members should ensure that the students maintain separate note book for each subject.
- Members must attend all the meetings called by the Section Coordinator.
- They will use black board while solving numerical problems and derivations.
- In case of misbehavior by students in the class, faculty members will not lose patience, Instead, they will sort out the matter at the time of meeting with the Section Coordinator.
Instructions to first year B.E. students
The students of first year are required to strictly adhere to the following instructions:
- The students must be present in the class five minutes before the commencement of the class. In any case, they will not be permitted to enter the class once the teacher is inside the class room.
- Prior permission (in written form) from the Section Coordinator is required if the students want to participate in cultural, sports or any other such co-curricular / extra-curricular activities. They are not supposed to participate/volunteer in any club activities in the first 2 months.
- All the students have to maintain a separate note book for each subject.
- The students should help in maintaining the campus litter free and make use of the dust bins provided in different locations.
- If the students are facing any problems such as academic or personal, they are advised to report to their Section Coordinator or Teacher Guardian.
- The students must always carry the Identity card issued by the institute authority, in the campus.
- The students are required to adhere strictly to the Attendance Regulations, Mobile Phone Regulations, Institute Dress Code and Code of Student Conduct, circulated separately. Serious disciplinary actions will be taken against the defaulters.
- In the case of any ragging incidences, the students may immediately call The Director / The Joint Director / Chief Warden / respective block Warden / respective Teacher Guardian / Associate Director (Student Welfare) / Security Officers of the institute and bring it to their notice for necessary help and actions.
