The Department of Printing and Media Engineering has the distinction of being the one among the only seven institutes across India offering bachelor’s degree since in 1992. I’m very proud to share that the department has been growing ever since to reach the present status of having international standard infrastructure and state-of-the-art facility.

Apart from the undergraduate programme (B.E. in Printing Technology), the department also offers a post graduate programme: M.Tech in Printing and Media Technology.

A Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed with Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany for cooperation, joint research projects, student exchange and for a Joint Double Degree Master’s program, Master of Technology in Printing and Media Technology from Manipal University, India, and Master of Science in Print and Media Production from Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany. Students selecting this programme, study one year in India and one year in Germany.

The department is equipped with following well established laboratories: Imaging Techniques Lab, Quality Testing Lab, Packaging Lab, Printing Machine Lab, Color Science Lab, and Print Finishing and Converting Lab with most sophisticated contemporary equipments.

The dedicated team of faculty members which is the back bone of the department is involved in consultancy and research activities as well. The department offers consultancy in the area color measurement and analysis, quality testing of printing substrates and ink, packaging material testing etc.

We at the Department of Printing and Media Engineering believe in nurturing the students as competent professional who can meet the demands of the industry and we have a wide alumni base spread throughout the world to rely on to realize this objective. Faculty to student ratio is also very good, which helps the department to give personal attention to all students and bring in the best out of them.

How can I conclude without mentioning the placement record of the department? Department has a near to 100% placement since its inception both in National and Multinational companies. From what I’ve seen from our alumni’s progress that they soon climb the hierarchy with the best packages compared to any of the corporate setups. In addition, there is a huge demand for print and media personnel to manage the ever growing glamour market.
