The civil Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (IE) was started in the year 1990 with a view to organize more academic activities in the department. Guest faculty, both from the industry and the academia, are regularly invited to impart and foster a healthy research environment in the department. The students are guided by a Faculty Advisor, deputed from the department.
