Chemical Engineering is the branch of Engineering that deals with the application of physical science (e.g. chemistry and physics) and life sciences (e.g. Biology, Micro Biology and Biochemistry) with mathematics to process of converting raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. In addition to producing useful materials, the discipline is expanding and the new science and engineering are helping develop technologies that are more efficient, safer and environmentally friendly. Chemical engineers have made important contributions to society over the years in terms of products and processes. The breadth and versatility of their training will continue to open many new opportunities for chemical engineers in the future.

The Chemical Engineering department at M.I.T. is committed to excellence in chemical Engineering Education in the context of ever changing environment. The department has a strong core curriculum complemented by electives in the important emerging areas at both under graduate and post graduate levels. The department has well equipped, state of the art UG and PG and Research Laboratories. Department has an excellent faculty who are well experienced with high qualifications. The department has good links with industry our alumni are spread all over the globe occupying various responsible positions in Industry, Academia and Research Institutions.
