MIT has a well-equipped workshop catering to the requirements of various departments. It is the part of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engg. Dept., housed in three blocks having a total floor area of 2800 sq. meters, in which machine shop, foundry & smithy, fitting, carpentry, wood turning, soldering and sheet metal, plumbing and welding sections are located. The workshop presently has CNC vertical machining centre, Gear hobbing machine , Centre less grinder, Capstan & turret production lathe & 30 Engine lathes including one 24 ft. heavy duty and 2 all geared lathes, Wood turning lathe, 7 Shapers, 1 Planner, 1 Radial drilling machine, 1 Sensitive drilling machine, 9 Milling machines, 6 Grinding machines, 4 Metal cutting saws, 8 Welding machines and also there are some specialized machines like Hydraulic surface grinder, Vertical boring machine etc. We are also equipped with Cupola furnace 1 ton capacity, Oil furnace, Power hammer, Sand blasting machine, Moulding machine, Sheet bending machine and Zig saw. We are in the process of installing CNC turning centre, Tig & Mig welding machines.
