This department also offers a post-graduate training programme of three years, which is approved by the Dental Council of India in 1986. The post-graduate programme in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry is designed to

• Prepare advanced students, to be skilled in improving and maintaining the health of infants, children, adolescents and persons with special needs
• Guide families in adopting effective preventive measures which will ensure a lifetime of excellent oral health
• Pursue advocacy activities within the health community and with the public, developing policies and guidelines related to promoting and maintaining the oral health of children
• Add value and seeks diversity in its students, staff, faculty and patients

The postgraduates are also oriented to carry out research projects which are sponsored by reputed organisations like Indian Council of Medical Research, WHO, Colgate Palmolive,Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore etc.
