The postgraduates are given extensive training for 3 years in the field of histological diagnosis, cytology and hematology. The postgraduates are also given training for immunohistochemistry, molecular biology etc. The training programmes include seminars, journal club & clinical club presentations, slide seminars, attending and participating in conferences and CDE programmes, carrying out research activities and conducting classes for undergraduates.

The department also teaches MSc Dental Materials students in their first year which includes study of teeth structure with their chemical composition and physical properties, clinical significance from the view of histology and embryology. Practical classes are also taken.

Patient care includes reporting of slides by routine H & E staining and other staining methods
