Ragging within or outside the educational institution is prohibited. Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or instigates ragging inside or outside the educational institution shall be suspended, expelled or rusticated from the institution and shall also be liable to fine. The punishment includes rigorous imprisonment, cancellation of admission, suspension from attending classes, withholding/ withdrawing fellowships/ scholarships and other financial benefits, withholding or cancelling the results.
Ragging includes display of noisy, disorderly conduct, teasing, rough or rude treatment, indulging in rowdy, undisciplined and obscene activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, undue hardship, physical or psychological harm or mental trauma or raise apprehension or fear in a fresher or other students, or forcing a student to do any act which such a student is not willing to do or which causes him/ her shame or embarrassment or danger to his/ her life or indulging in eve teasing.
Anti Ragging Committee
The Anti Ragging Committee will hold enquiry into any ragging activity which is brought to its notice either by the students, parents, faculty or any person. After conducting a detailed enquiry, the committee will take appropriate decision, including punishment.

Anti Ragging Squad
An Anti Ragging Squad, consisting of faculty members, will go around the campus regularly to closely watch the movements of freshers for at least a month and take the necessary measures to prevent ragging. Any untoward incident is reported to the Anti Ragging Committee. It will be mobile, alert and active at all times and is empowered to periodically inspect places of potential ragging. It will make surprise raids on hostels and other hot spots. Students are advised to contact the anti ragging squad for immediate help when encountered with possible ragging situation so that they will be attended by the members of the squad immediately.

Punishment against Ragging:
Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or instigates ragging inside or outside the educational institution shall be punished. Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence, as established by the Anti Ragging Committee, those found guilty of ragging will be suitably punished and the guilty will be punished with one or a combination of the following:

Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges

Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits
-
Forfeiting Campus Placement opportunities/ recommendations
-
Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process
-
Withholding of results
-
Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national orinternationalmeet, tournament, youth festival, etc.

Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel
-
Cancellation of Admission
-
Rustication from the institution for a period, ranging from 1 to 4 semesters
-
Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specific period
-
Fine of Rupees 2.5 lakhs

Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers
In addition, in case of every single incident of ragging, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed with the local police authorities. The possible punishment includes rigorous imprisonment (in compliance with the order of Supreme Court of India)
Caution to students

Ragging is a criminal offence as per the Supreme Court verdict. Ragging in all its forms, within or outside the institution/ campus, is totally banned. Ragging is an offence under penal code and Karnataka Education act 1983

Ragging is neither a ritual nor a custom in college campus life

You do not have to submit to ragging in any form

Do not compromise your dignity & self respect

Report incidents of ragging of yourself or of others

Contact the Anti Ragging Squad/ Anti Ragging Committee of the College, Hostel Warden or the Principal

Take active part in all institutional activities intended to end ragging on campus

Ragging is not permissible in Campus, not even for fun
The freshers/ junior students are hereby instructed that they should move in groups within the academic areas/ campus, should not respond to the calls from seniors, should not participate in any kind of “fresher’s party” anywhere inside/ outside the campus, desist from doing anything against their will even if ordered by the seniors and that, they have nothing to fear as the institution cares for them and shall not tolerate any atrocities against them.
