Dr V Surendra Shetty heads the Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. Dr Shetty is one of the pioneer orthodontists in the South Kanara district. He has spent the better part of his career in the development of dental health awareness within the society.

Hailing from the home district, Dr Shetty had his dental training, both undergraduate and postgraduate, in the Manipal College of Dental Sciences at Manipal. He has had wide exposure in his specialty, through contacts with leading luminaries in the field in India and abroad. He has travelled to Europe and U.S.A., bringing richly acquired academic and administrative expertise to his students at the Manipal College of Dental Sciences in Mangalore.

Associated with a number of scholarly fellowships, he has served in various universities and national boards as a member, with distinction.

Dr Surendra Shetty has presented and conducted a number of seminars, workshops and research projects in Orthodontics. A popular teacher, and a sought after consultant, Dr Shetty has been the recipient of a number of honours and awards.

Dr Surendra Shetty’s commitment to dissemination of dental education among the masses has seen him sponsor/ organise and conduct a number of dental camps where free treatment and advice has been given to thousands of people in rural and interior parts of the state. His crusade to spread dental awareness among the young has involved children from 200 district schools, covering 45,000 students.
