Labs 


Overview

Each department in the institute has a laboratory. The details of such labs can be viewed in respective departments. Besides, there are some central labs available to all departments. The details of central labs are given below

Phantom Head Lab

The Department of Conservative Dentistry has a fully equipped phantom head lab for training the undergraduate students in tooth cavity preparation in a simulated environment. This phantom head lab allows the students to get a feel of working with a patient by allowing simulation of the teeth, cheek, head position, etc. There are 110 workstations for the undergraduates in the lab and four additional phantom head workstations for the postgraduate students in the department. The preclinical conservative teaching is facilitated in this lab which has been equipped with climate control, audiovisual aids and the conventional blackboard. The laboratory is equipped with micromotors for typhodont cavity preparation and air rotor attachments for crown preparations in prosthodontics. Simulated oral cavities for training in both adult and paediatric dentistry is conducted in this lab.

Ceramic Lab

The institution is equipped with a state of the art central laboratory having Centrifugal Casting Machines, Burnout Furnaces, Metal Ceramic Porcelain Unit and the latest All Ceramic Unit. The lab also has basic amenities to construct complete dentures, fixed restorations as well as removable cast partial dentures like the Digital Acrylizers, Pindex System, Sand Blasting Machines, Surveyors and duplicating units.
