Network of Eco Explorers, Manipal (NEEM) is dedicated to spreading awareness about our environment and the problems it faces. The world we live in is under threat. Climate change, pollution, loss of habitat and rapid urbanization are just some of the factors threatening the very world we live in. Everybody has a right to live in a clean, beautiful world and as students of communication; we are convinced we can make a difference.


Manipal is situated in Western Ghats which is considered to be among the 10 biodiversity hotspots in the world. Thus, utilising the opportunity we wish to explore and understand our surrounding in a much better way.NEEM has been organising lectures by environmentalists, discussions, cleaning campaigns, documentary film screenings and field trips over the last two years.


Activities organised till date:

  • Screening of ‘Wildlife in Southern Africa’, a wildlife documentary film produced by the BBC
  • Neem tree plantation on MIC campus
  • Screening of ‘Great Wildlife Moments’ a wildlife documentary film produced by the BBC
  • “Best of Waste - a competition that invited students to utilize scrap material and produce art
  • Lecture on Alternative energy sources by Mr. Ashok Kundapura an environmentalist
  • A cleanliness campaign organized with Manipal University
  • Lecture by Mr. Srikumar Menon (Faculty in Architecture department and environmentalist) on Agumbe Rainforest Research Station
  • Field trip to Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary
