Vision 

Manipal University believes in expansion as it makes a difference to students aspiring to take up diverse courses at the undergraduate level.

The Manipal School of Architecture and Planning always looks for growth. The translation of vision will be by introducing newer programs at various levels. So, next in the pipeline are the School of Fashion Design and School of Fine Arts and ultimately culmination of all these schools under the head of Manipal Institute of Design. This expansion has been planned in three stages.

In the first stage, the institute has introduced two new courses, Bachelor of Interior Design and Certificate Course in Fashion Design & Information Technology from the academic session 2011-2012. The first phase will be completed in two years, by then the strength of students is expected to go up to 1000 from the present 400.

School of Fashion Design is the expansion planned for the second stage. It will have fashion technology and design, shop front design, apparel design, product design/industrial design, graphics design, furniture design and lamps and fixtures design. The second phase will be one to four year programs and the student strength will be about 650.

And in the third phase, the plan is to start a School of Fine Arts with six months to two-year programs. “Fine Arts are a part of our regional culture. It is intended to utilize the local talent and create a platform for the study of the following subjects. Painting, sculpture, crafts, ceramics, music and dance.
