The Radiotherapy Technologist is the third member of the team responsible for the accurate delivery of radiotherapy to the cancer patient. Radiation therapy technologists play a role in operation of radiation therapy equipment, assisting radiation oncologist in developing treatment plan and assisting patient preparation. They are also involved in counselling patients on radiation therapy and related issues. Radiotherapy has undergone a sea of changes in the last decade with the introduction of Multileaf Collimator (MLC) Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (IRGT), Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT) and Radiosurgery (SRS), it is imperative that the technologists should have training of very high caliber. The Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology was formed in the year 1993-94 and offers UG and PG programmes.
