The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, established in the year 1960, offers 5 Under Graduate (B.E) courses and 4 Post Graduate (M. Tech) programmes. The departmental faculty consists of erudite teachers who are constantly engaged in undertaking research work of original nature and subsequent publications. Many of the members of the faculty have earned to their credit quite a number of praiseworthy research papers published in the national and international journals of repute. The department organises seminars and workshops on varied topics every year. The department has very good Industry-Institute interaction and has conducted several short courses for working professionals from industry. The faculty are actively engaged in research and consultancy in addition to regular academic work. The department provides ample laboratory facilities and hands-on training to the Undergraduate students both in the conventional subject as also in the emerging fields of specialisation. The department offers BE in the disciplines of Mechanical, Industrial and Production, Mechatronics, Automobile, Aeronautical Engineering. It also offers M.Tech programmes in Engineering management, Computer Aided Mechanical Design & Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering & Technology and Nuclear Engineering. The department has recently tied up with Ashok India Limited, Bangalore to conduct exclusive BS programme in Mechanical engineering. The department has well established CAD/CAM laboratory with state of the art hardware and software. The basic laboratories such as heat engines laboratory, Automation laboratory, Metrology laboratory, Heat transfer laboratory, Fuel testing laboratory, Machine Tools laboratory, Material Science laboratory, vibration laboratory and Industrial Engineering laboratory have fully fledged facilities. The department has sprawling workshop situated on a 30000 sq ft area comprising of machine shop, foundry, smithy, sheet metal, plumbing, welding, fitting and carpentry sections. The department has good industry institute interaction and has conducted several short courses to cater to the needs of the industry personnel.
