The department has conducted national conferences and workshops. It recently conducted a National conference on Devices Intelligent Systems and Communications. National level workshops on Spectroscopy, System on Chip, MEMs, and Nano Electronics are conducted for students, faculties, scientists and for the industrialists. The department is organising an international conference in association with IEEE.

There are many opportunities for students to participate in technical activities through technical clubs such as IE (E&C) student chapter and the IEEE student branch. Various events pertaining to science and technology are conducted by these clubs. Students are taken to the industry as a part of the technical tour.

The department also organises guest lectures with the help of top scientist, professors from the IITs, and experts from the industry. The department has the tie up with industries such as EMC2 and Philips India Ltd. The faculty in this department are involved in research work in VLSI, Signal Processing and Nano-Technologies. Many papers have been published in journals based on this research work, notably IEEE transactions and other indexed journals. More than 50 research papers have been published in international and national conferences.
