Architectural Research and Consultancy Cell of the Faculty of Architecture carries out joint study, funded research, documentation of energy efficient building design, historical built forms, new projects and feasibility studies.
The significant areas of research and consultancy are:
• Research on utilization of glass in industry
• Energy and environment
• Natural Disasters and mitigation
• Climate-aspects of traditional built forms of South Kanara region
• Study of historical towns like Barkur
• Investigating traditional architecture of South Kanara
• Inquiry into habitation of peafowl population of Manipal environs as a sustainable development initiative
• Appraisal of archaeological cist sites of Brahmagiri, their occult formation and its plausible relation with astronomy and astrophysics
• Heritage conservation - new initiatives
• Feasibility study for Kollur Temple Town Development
